Here's a link describing how the band Holy F**K has been under scrutiny for "forcing" the Tories to cut Arts funding.

If harper wins majority i think i'll move to france, seriously. Theres a couple things that make me hate humanity and one of them is when people are interviewed and asked who they'll vote for and they say "Harper, because his a family man...and i like that", could you get anymore brain dead retarted?! its people like them who, dare i say, Ruin democracy. Harper is as low as skum, he would do (and is doing) any thing for a vote.

France? Why France? I hear that it isn't too easy to get work over there. Oh, and from all accounts, it smells. And then there's the ignorant French over there.

If Harper wins majority, I'm moving back to Quebec. He's afraid of pissing off Quebec, and they get whatever they want. You can call me an ignorant French-Canadian for all I care; it would be a wise move.

It's not so much that he's afraid of pissing them off, as he's fawning all over them hoping to pocket their votes, like a hormone-addled teenager who thinks that because some cheerleader wants help with her homework, he's got a chance with her.

Me, if Harper gets in, I'll just shrug and accept that the world has been going to hell in a bucket ever since Eve took advice from a snake. One more snake can't make much difference.

Harper is going to win this. You might as well accept it.

Assuming you're referring to Afghanistan, I seem to recall that Harper wasn't the PM when we signed up for that mission. Correct me if I'm wrong, I just want to keep the facts straight.

You would be correct about that fact; I believe Canada initially deployed troops around 2002. I trust Skippy can correct any mistakes I make about this topic, but I believe Gord and other like minded Canadians are angry about the shift from pure peacekeeping/reconstruction roles to active combat roles against the Taliban in Afghanistan's southeast. I'm not sure if this shift started under the previous Liberal government or the current government. To which I say; thank you Canada for stepping up and fighting with valor where the other NATO allies refuse to take risks and actually defend a new democratically oriented country.

It was Paul Martin's Liberal government that moved Canadian troops from Kabul to Khandahar, with the expectation that they would take on a combat role there. This fact is conveniently forgotten by people who want to blame Harper for the war.

And, on the topic of arts funding, a ridiculous puff piece in today's Globe and Mail in which the Tories forget the leaked briefing notes, notes that explicitly identify ideological reasons for their cuts, and tell us that Harper is actually deeply passionate about the arts because, uh, he used to play the piano and loved it so much that he actually, uh, gave it up, um, until quite recently....

Notably, they are still defending their cuts as cuts to "things people actually don't want." That is, playing to the perception that arts funding goes to support fringe artists with no popular appeal.

But I'm fascinated by the bit about Harper writing poetry. Come on, Steve, put some out in the open for us to read. Let's have it.

It was Harper who transformed the Canadian mission from a humanitarian relief effort to "defending the oil pipeline".

Nice to know you are still wearing your tinfoil hat there, Phil.

I wonder what your reaction would be if a new major terrorist attack occurred anywhere in the United States or Canada; would it be ChimpyMcBushHitler did it so McSame can win the election?
