I would have to disagree with this topic. The show the other night was the best show they've ever played at the Landmark. I went to the show in 2004 and also a great show but it wasn't as good as this one. Yeah they play their staple songs but i love hearing some of them every show. To me i don't think i would like a show with out Blow. It's such an electric song live with Gordie's crazy antics makes it 10 times better. I thought the crowd the other night was great too. Durning some of the songs on the balcony/lodge area the crowd was enjoying the show so much the floor started to move from dancing around. As far as the worst hip show ever, this show is nowhere near that in my opinion. I don't know if anyone from here went to the St.Adele (Montreal)show about a year ago but the landmark show blew that show out of the water. As far as the setlist complaining i don't think we have any control over it. So there isn't any reason to complain. The hip are going to play what they think is the best for that night. I think as other people said i think being fatigue from a such a long tour might of been a factor for a "staple" type setlist.

yeah van beek you are becoming a pain in the ass

After reading, the set list again.. Another show I am so happy I did not attend.. Tongue

Three songs in the set list I really think Suck.. They are so so Sappy.. Tongue

Really, I would have been so disappointed..

Anyway 'nothing ventured, nothing lost'

I don't think I would ever get tired of hearing (seeing) *Ahead By A Century*, *Courage* or *In View* considering I have never seen *In View* Live... I have never seen *Fully, Completely* or *Longtime Running* played.. I have never been lucky enough..

This is why I guess I have given up on Hip Concerts.. there is a lot more to it than just this

Cheers! 8)

I've seen 'em 5 or 6 times over the last fifteen years, and only here in Texas. Don't have the luxury of catching the band 5, 6, 12 times a tour....in any case, I was either lucky, blessed, or privileged (take your pick) to see the band twice this year. Both were amazing shows, including the requisite Hits, which I enjoy immensely because hearing these songs played live, fresh from the amp, is such a rare privilege for me. Also, I enjoy them vicariously through my wife, who is a new Hip fan. Having said that, I'd love it if the guys would play a couple of nights in a row here, same venue, mixing it up each night. I would absolutely find a way to be there for each show.

Well people first off the majority of people who buy tickets for these shows are not hipbase bloggers or multiple show goers. The vast majority want to hear the hits! Im a big fan, Rochester was my 26th show. 8th for my wife. She gets disapointed when she does not hear ABAC or NOIS! I could care a less. Some shows I have enjoyed more than others but I've never been dissapointed. I remember when they always used to close with fire in the hole that pissed me off! Now I wish they would. I guess the Kids dont get it?

I had a tickets for both Syracuse and Rochester and couldn't go to either. After reading the reviews/set lists, etc. do you think I'm disappointed about not being able to go? You bet I am. Because to me it doesn't matter what the heck they play. They could play Mary had a Little Lamb and I'd still be into it!

For me its not just about the songs they play. Its about how they play them, how they interact with each other and the audience, how they make an accidental microphone drop seem like it was planned all along. If I wanted to hear specific songs I'd just stay at home and listen to them there, but I go to see the Hip to see them perform.

I am not about to say the boys didn't play well but the crowd can have a huge affect on the band and so can the length of the tour. I wasn't there in 02 but I was there at the Oct. 2000 show and THAT was imho the best show I've seen at the landmark. It included the infamous rant when Gord was being flipped off by some dude in the pit and he went off on him. They played 25 or so songs including an amazing version of Scared and Eldorado and even an appearance of Insomniacs. This past show was ruined more for me by the young kids than the setlist. I do think it was interesting to see the difference the next night in Rochester...the same songs were so much better at the auditorium. All I can say in closing...is Cheers Boys...thanks for the best tour in recent memory. We saw Fiddlers played for the first time, we saw the longest tour in quite some time. The boys played a true world tour. CHEERS CHEERS CHEERS.

The problem is once apon a time things were changed up everynight and that got a lot of people in the mentality of fallowing the band around to see multiple shows, like a jam band following. These past few albums have seen less and less of a change up in things but people are still going to multiple shows. I overheard a comment last night from non-hipbasers "This is the same show they played the last 2 nights".

Is it the bands fault? No it's ours for continuing to follow them to multiple shows, we (those going to see a different show then the previous) go in hoping for something different or fresh but expecting disappointment.

I was very fortunate to make it to a hell of a lot of shows over the last 1.5 years, including the 1st and last shows of the tour, the Toronto and Montreal club shows, almost every show in Ontario period, many in the states. There were many fantastic shows, mainly the ones for the "die hard fans". I think I was at every show for the "die hards" excluding the recent east coast one, and every one fo the "die hards" shows were amazing, because they were all different.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and being at last nights show in Hogansburg it's very apparent that I and some others on here are in a tiny minority when it comes to what songs we want to see live. The crowd was insane last night and gobbled up every second of it, even when the band wasn't doing anything the crowd was going nuts.

After seeing so many shows this year and hearing songs I'd never heard live before or hearing songs sound checked that still haven't been played live in ages I know it's not that the band can't play them anymore, they just choose not to.

I (and some others I know) will no longer be following the band around, we'll do the local shows and that's where it will stop. There's no point in following them around anymore, when the highlight of the trip is the 5hrs in a car (each way), falling in a ditch, and changing a flat tire I know that I don't need to be spending $50+ to watch a generic show, I can do all those other things anytime anywhere.

I'm not going to change your minds and you're not going to change mine.

A few of us decided last night that hip have become the Leafs of rock and roll.

Thanks for the space.

Alright, I've seen the hip around 45 times in the past 12 years. They were my favorite band until this year. The shows started off great, cover songs, high energy, and club shows! But when they play a town 2 nights in a row lets change the set a little more than 2 or 3 songs. They are a professional band that can handle it. If they can whip out a different cover each night how about a different song off of UTH. Kind of sick of blow, new o, and thats about it. I understand that they write a setlist that gels but replace some faster songs with old faster songs and some slow songs with some older slow songs. I think they are still playing to make it big in the states when they should be playing to their die hard fans that have stuck with them for 20- odd years.

K, last October, I went to MacEwan Hall to see them play 4 shows (in I think 5 nights), and by the end of it, I was bagged, and ready to go home.
If I was bagged by just waiting in line to get front row, singing along and dancing a little bit, I can't imagine how drained they must have been. After over a year of touring, I'd be a little tired too!
As for their setlists, they're proud of World Container, and they love playing songs from it. I'm sure they don't just want to play songs from 1990 day after day. They want to show off their new songs, and so they should. Unfourtunately, music critics are slightly unprepared, don't listen to the new album, and if they don't here Blow at High Dough, they're not satisfied; so, the boys try to keep everyone happy (hardcore and casual)! If you don't like similar setlists show after show, then go to one concert, and call it a night.
As for me, I could see them every night, and appreciate it more and more each time.

ok. I would never complain about a band supporting their new album. they can play the whole thing for all I care. Its when they play wheat kings then the next night they play scared then the next night wheat kings. spice it up a bit. and as for them being tired, not buying that. they schedule the tour around themselves. in case nobody has notice they tour for a month then take a couple weeks off. thats them resting. I'm not saying they aren't fantastic live. I would never have seen them so many times. I just found myself predicting setlists after a while. When I met them in Buffalo ealier this year at an instore I asked them to play Opiated at the second Buffalo show and they all laughed. I got fireworks instead. Yayyyyy. I don't buy the being tired deal. still a fan, just won't travel to catch the same show as the night before or two nights before.

The band sounded fantastic both in Rochester and Hogansburg. The set list was ordinary (no real surprises) but their voices were strong and clear. The band was tight as ever (looked well rested too).

The hip are the greatest rock and roll band on the planet. Hands down. There are other solid bands but the hip back their recorded music up with a top notch live show. The true measure of a band. How do they play live.

If any one was at the train wreck of show in Hogansburg would back this post up. They should have walked off the stage between the third and fifth song. People throwing beer and other items at the band. The hip to their credit and security finished the show. Billy Ray was getting doused as he was getting the equipment ready for the encore. Again the hip came out rocked hard and left for home.

Enjoy what we witnessed over the last tour. The hip playing small venues and clubs. A real treat for true music fans.

My two cents.

Or a Neil Young fan, or any number of Pop acts that are touring right now, or just about any other band.

We've got it pretty good by comparison.
