It was a great show, as was the Wednesday nighter, but the boys should take some tips from the Hip on how to approach multiple shows in one city. I was hoping that at least 5 or 6 songs would be changed up for Night #2, but was disappointed that only two changes were made. Seeing as they now have 4 albums to draw from, there really isn't any excuse. Not only that, but the setlists were almost mirror images of each other sequentially.

That being said, I enjoyed both shows thoroughly. Highlights included:

- The quadruple rock star poses atop the monitors during the crescendo of The Reasons.
- Greg Smith's multiple David Lee Roth-type jumpkicks on Wednesday.
- The awkward, yet effective, tromboning/trumpeting of their so-not-used-to-being-a-rock-star buddy during Bigfoot! and Manifest, respectively.

By the way, during the Thursday night show a guest male vocalist took the stage to sing a song with Jenn Grant. He looked mildly familiar, had a British accent and a brown 'fro, and was greeted by cheers from the 3 people in the room who seemed to recognize him. Anyone know who he was?

My first time seeing The Weakerthans. Thought the band was pretty good :thumb: I was more impressed with their following, the place was packed and their fans were very respectful of each other. Wasnt to fussy about Jen Grant or the girl b4 her but it turns out that shes married to The Weakerthans singer.I guess that explains her opening slot  I videotaped the show and hope that someone can come up with a complete setlist as i have not been able to find one anywhere on the bands sites or related links. The video turned out good and will eventually be torented through the tracker. For now i found a nice Weakerthans group on Facebook and will be posting a few songs from the show. The first posting is for Chris :thumb:

Nice video Vic, thanks for posting. Looking forward to seeing more! Too bad I couldn't make it to the show, I'd have definitely kept track of the setlist for you. Hopefully someone on here can give it to you - the Weakerthans threads on hipbase are about the closest there is to an active Weakerthans forum on the web. Worst case just post some of the lyrics to any songs you're unsure of and we can figure it out for you :thumb:

It was Ron Sexsmith. Don't know about the accent you were hearing, but that's who it was.

And you're spot on with the rest of your review of Thursdays show.

Thanks Vic - great vid. That song is called "One Great City!"

Haha, must have been a result of the 'Cinquante' I was sucking back that night. Thanks, Chris.

I've been sitting at my computer editing concert footage today, and all of a sudden it dawned on me that:
A) The Weakerthans put on a great show and have fully, completely converted me to a fan. The Thursday show was excellent and I really wish that I had my recording gear with me that night.
B) The Hip are a killer live band. (Not that I didn't already think that!)
