Props to jeromio, NegPhil and mastodonfarm... they have described the essence of attending a Hip concert as well as I could, maybe even better.

I would only add this for Gibie's buddy to consider... if he has a favourite band that he's seen in concert multiple times, he should ask himself if this band has ever done something unexpected, like pull out a classic tune that they haven't played in years, or performed a jam mid-song where they drop bits of other songs into it yet keep it completely their own at the same time.

If his favourite band has done this, then he'll definitely enjoy the Hip. If his favourite band has NOT done this, then he NEEDS to see the Hip, so he can experience a rock concert at its finest.
