Over time we would have all of the songs ranked, and could start to root for the Cinderella teams; have odds-on favourites, etc!
Do you realize how long it would take to actually rank the entire Hip catalogue using this head-to-head format?! Confusedhock:
The head-to-head is not what takes the time... it is the length of time that each match takes...
I did say this head-to-head format. And I assume you were referring to it as well in your original post.

But anyways, ranking Hip songs in order from 1-130 or so songs, resulting from the process of pitting 2 songs against each other, would be an arduous task, to say the least.

I guess I just assumed that the "format" referred to the head-to-head nature of the system - not the time that Shane has assigned to each match-up... :thumb:

A few for me:
- Escape is at Hand
- Boots or Hearts

Sorry guys, but I gotta brag a bit.

I pretty much called the final matchup. Damn I'm good.

But I also have to say damn this idea is good. The Hip 64 was such a great by Shane Kroeker. I can't wait for things to heat up in the matchups to come.

Shane Kroeker Wrote:I hope after looking at the 64 songs that I have came up with, you will recognize the intense struggle I had to endure. Selecting 64 songs out of 170 great rock and roll tracks and soothing balads is no easy task. I factored in the Hipbase's opinions on songs, to gain an understanding of which will be the best 64 songs in the catalogue.
The Hip 64 event has been a tremendous success thus far. The response has far surpassed my expectations, as I had figure out about 50 votes per match-up. Seeing The members of this community double my original estimation, makes me feel proud of this community. I also appreciate your on-going support, andd genuine positivty towards this event.
I hope to make this event an annual occurence, so without any strong objection by the community, you can expect the '64 years to come.
To keep the competition fresh, I will initiate a relegation round after we have crowned the inaugural winner. If your favourite songs have not appeared in this 64, you will get an opportunity to push them into the competition next year. More information on this aspect will follow after we have decided a winner.

Well done Shane, keep up the good work!
