sadies - don't be so harsh. The hip will be reaching out to the thousands of Canadians living in the Cayman Islands eager to wave the flag and get a one-night taste of home. They aren't playing a private party for a tax-evading corporation.
Just because we are fortunate enough to live in a tropical paradise and we don't pay Canadian taxes doesn't mean we are socially unconscious! There are plenty of important social causes that we support as individuals here where we live.
Don't worry... we'll make sure they "keep it real" as you say. This will go down in history as a classic hip gig that any true fan will regret missing.

Here's a question....
is anybody going to record this show? What a gem this would be to have!

we will be recording every minute of it! If you can't be here, we'll do what we can to share the experience.

They are "Acoustic / Jam Band / Reggae" so it works for me!
And they announced it on their site with four exclamation points, so it reads like they are excited about opening for The Hip.

sullivand - Safehaven is an outdoor field venue just a short distance from the famous Seven Mile Beach across from the Westin Causarina Resort and next to the Ritz Carlton. It should be an amazing place to see the Hip. Temperatures in early May are usually in the high 80's - just over 30C. So the evenings are perfect for an outdoor concert. Everyone is talking about this concert, even non-Canadians who are just hearing about the band for the firs time. It's going to be huge!

I was in Grand Cayman when the Ritz was being constructed, so I know exactly where you're talking about. Pretty damn cool place to play if you ask me!

I was curious about pricing because my girlfriend wants to go away in May, so I very quickly looked up on expedia.ca, a week in Grand Cayman, during the concert week.
from Toronto to Grand Cayman
7 days at the Ritz Carleton
$3106/person
+ticket price, lol
