Do the lyrics alienate me?: no, I live about 3 miles from the border, I have never seen them live, but the lyrics turned me on to them, there are very very few lyrics that I cant relate to from the hip

3) Do you own any hip albums, if so how many? All of them
4) What is your favorite Hip Song? Twist My Arm/Nashville
5) Do you listen to the Tragically Hip, if so how often? 5 times a week
6) What immediately attracted you to hip OR What did you first dislike about the band? The wa-wa peddle used throughout Road Apples.
5) If you are not from Canada, do you feel that the strong Canadian content of the Hip's lyrics alienates the listeners? I don’t think the lyrics alienate the listeners as much as a few select Canucks who travel south for the US club shows. This does not pertain to every Canadian attending a US show, just the one or two who feel its their God-given right to push their way to the front and then announce, "they are a bigger Hip fan than you" simply because they live in the same country as the band. These are usually the same dopes who end up standing there with their arms crossed until they play 50 MC, Little Bones, or NOIS…at which point they try to start a mosh pit or attempt to crowd surf.

6) What immediately attracted you to hip OR What did you first dislike about the band I first heard Gift Shop when I was in great eight, and my English teacher put it on over some work we were doing. To what extent do the lyrics actually have strong Canadian content, overall, and to what extent is that part of the band's mythology?
I think if you were to look song-by-song, you'd find that the majority of the songs don't contain Canadian references. That being the case, you'd be better off asking if the nationalist mythology around the band alienates non-Canadians.

The paddling past canuck references have become saturated through the work of that Canadian identity cabal (located in Moonbeam, Ontari-ari-o) who refuse to except that the remote-control's on Mars.
