Speaking of Shanahan, did anyone see the clip of him on HNIC last night? He was standing in front of his locker with a group of press around him, and he was bobbing back and forth and breathing heavy...in a similar style to the Senators who like to ride the bike while being interviewed...pretty funny stuff...he said he was doing an "Ottawa interview" but he gave the camera guy shit when he panned down to show him just standing there! I think it was shown during the coaches corner segment, so there's probably video out there if you want to search...

What an absolute crazy game tonight between the Caps/Rangers. The losing streak is finally over! Lots of fights in this one...Orr/Brashear, Shanahan/Brashear, Orr/Morrison, etc.
And Donald Brashear is an idiot!!

Brashear is responsible for the franchise player, who he is SUPPOSED TO PROTECT, getting run over. I don't know if Brashear is dumb or plain retarded but the Caps brought him to the team to take care of Ovechkin, not put him in harms way.

Go 'Nucks!!!! Did they really score six goals?? And I know there's a person on this board who's so happy that Linden is playing so well right now..he's getting more ice time than Naslund!

Well, I don't want to rain on your parade too much, but is getting more icetime than Naslund in one of the last five games really considered getting more ice time?

And hey, if your definition of playing so well is a whopping nine points in 38 games, then I'd love to trade you Chad Kilger for Henrik! But with four point in his last seven games, Linden almost looks like he belongs in the NHL again........almost.

Seriously though, the love you Canuck fans have for Linden needs to be studied by sociologists. I was in Vancouver a couple of weeks ago listening to the awful sports radio station and someone called in to say how awesome Linden had played against Phoenix the night before. This was a game where Bieksa was +4, Bieksa, the Sedins, and Kesler each had two points, Luongo made 28 saves on 30 shots.....and Linden was even, played 15 mins, and had one whole shot.....but someone took the time to call in to talk about how "great" Trevor Linden played. Good thing I was expecting it, or I would have spit out my coffee all over the cab from laughing so hard.

From the last few games of the Canucks that I've watched, Willie Mitchell has been one of their better players. Linden has been playing better, but he still makes boneheaded plays on the ice and is still DEATHLY SLOW. Naslund got two points against Edmonton but he still looks like a nearly washed up player. The Sedin twins are basically the heart of the offense. Bieksa and Mitchell are pretty much the top D line now so Ohlund is no longer the captain back there. I didn't think Mitchell was that great but I have to say that he has impressed me this season, along with Bieksa. I can't fathom how much time Fitzpatrick gets. Vigneault must be completely blind. Every time Rory F is on the ice I get the feeling that the other team will score. I don't mean that as a joke either. Rory Fitzpatrick is THAT BAD. The biggest disappointment this season for me has been Luongo, by a longshot. Naslund has been disappointing but I have a sneaky suspicion that he is playing with an injury. If not, well it's time to accept that his time is up. Luongo is young and even with the time it takes to get acclimated to a new team, he just hasn't lived up to expectations.

Brashear was actually already tossed out of the game before the Ovechin incident occured Tiger...all the Brashear stuff resulted from his elbow on Jaromir Jagr. The Ovechkin stuff came later (actually the whole thing happened b/c Brash went after Jagr & Shanny, so Orr went after their star).

That's my point. Brashear is responsible for Ovechkin getting hit. Him going after Jagr resulted in the retaliation of Orr going after Ovechkin. Brashear is a piece of garbage. He always has been. He's an idiot. He had to know that the Rangers would go after the Capitals' best player after he went after Jagr. He has no regard for his teammates. He's a pussy fighter too. He's HUGGY BEAR unless he is fighting a smaller guy like Downie or someone.

If you look at the 10 teams that score the least amount of goals, only three of them have winning records - the 'nucks, Devils and Stars. Seeing as how the Devils have a guy by the name of Marty Brodeur and the Stars have Regular Season Marty Turco (not to be confused with his evil twin Playoff Marty Turco - who is brutal), it's pretty clear to me that the 'nucks winning record is due to one guy, and one guy only. I mean what more did you expect out of Luongo? Did you want him to QB the PP as well?!?!?

I can't think of a better way to spend New Years Eve than watching the Greasers get spanked by the Flames. Kipper finally looked like Kipper again (thank god), and another multiple-point night for Iginla. I can't think of any other player in the league right now who can dominate a game like Iggy can. It's beautiful.

Sure, you'd like his save % to be better, but compare his stats to the backup's stats. Sabourin hasn't won a game, has a GAA of 3.08, and a save % of .872, while Luongo has a GAA of 2.50 and a save % of .911. That's a pretty significant difference.

Do the same with Turco and his backup (Mike Smith) and they've got pretty similar stats, but in NJ it's the same story as in Vancouver - the starter's stats are significantly better than the backup's stats.

To me that indicates that if you take Luongo out and replace him with pretty much any other goalie in the league (not named Brodeur) and the Canucks would be significantly worse - and that my friend, is the definition of a team's MVP - especially on a team where only two guys are providing any offense whatsoever.

I tell you though, it's funny the different perceptions that everyone has of their favourite team's goalies. You say Luongo has only been "decent" this season, yet ryan93 calls Lundqvist "top 3", yet I look at Lundqvist's numbers (which I do pretty much everyday since he's one of my starters in a keeper pool I'm in, along with Kipper) and I see a guy having a very, very disappointing season.
