Cripes! I'd rather watch the Rangers/Leafs game than the Habs/Penguins. I have missed HNIC the past few weeks but if I'm home, I'd rather be watching Jagr than Crosby. Oh well...enjoy the Leafs game, opiated.

The CBC's Hockey Night in Canada will carry Saturday's New York Rangers-Toronto Maple Leafs game in most English-language markets, but why?

Hockey Night certainly has better options: the Pittsburgh Penguins, with red-hot Sidney Crosby, are playing the Montreal Canadiens; and the Buffalo Sabres are in Ottawa against the Senators.

The Pens-Habs game will be seen in Quebec and Atlantic Canada, and Sabres-Sens will be limited to Ottawa, while Rangers-Leafs will get distribution in Ontario and regions West.

The Leafs won a game this week, but they're a weak team and their telecasts should no longer automatically qualify for national distribution.

Joel Darling, the executive producer of Hockey Night, says the Leafs take priority because they are the leading audience producer among the six Canadian NHL teams. He didn't rule out dropping the Leaf game in markets outside Ontario, if the Rangers build a large lead, and picking up the Montreal game.

as a longtime penguins fan, i really would like the team to stay in pitt. wednesday is the day we find out who gets the gaming license to build a casino and hopefully a new arena. if the group(isle of capri casinos inc,) who proposed to build the rink doesn`t win the license, well, who knows what will happen to this franchise

I'd like more Canadian teams in the NHL just as much as the next guy but I really hate seeing teams move. Obviously, there's financial reasoning behind it but I mean I would really hope the Penguins stay in Pittsburgh. There's so much history there, hope everything works out.

Ah yes, the "no defence" Eastern Conference. Those high scoring run-and-gun displays seem to happen quite a bit over there. Very rarely do you ever see a Western Conference team being lit up that badly. Perhaps it's because all the top goaltenders are out west, while the majority of the top offensive stars are out east.

Speaking of being lit up, the Flames beat the lowly Coyotes 6-3 tonight. Iggy with another 4-point night. Monday's game against Anaheim should be a real barn burner. The Flames embarrassed them when they rolled through Calgary a few weeks ago, and I'm sure the Ducks will be looking for a little revenge.

Props to cbc for changing the coverage. The Pens game was closer alot longer than that Leafs joke. Now if only the Flames could play the entire season at home....
