glad to see the habs bounce back tonight and pick up the W in regulation after last night's heartbreaker against the devils...they played a full 60 minutes, and got the 2 points...without Markov! hooray!

direwolf74 Wrote:Ugh...alright, I'm officially sick of shootouts. I absolutely HATE them. And I'm not just saying that because the Flames suck hard in them. I honestly think it's a shitty way to end a hockey game. Nothing annoys me more than seeing a team play their asses off and dominate the majority of a game (like the Flames did tonight) and then end up losing in a f**king skills competition. I just checked the stats and found out that Minnesota has been involved in 9 shootouts this year, winning 7 of them. That's a lot of garbage points.

agreed, it usually about which goalie is having a better night.

Not always. It's no secret that Kiprusoff is horrible in shootouts. It's just not his thing. He's unbeatable during regulation and the 5-minute OT period, but once it gets to the shootout, he's absolutely terrible. It's a complete mystery as to why, because he stops a lot of breakaways during games. My only guess is that he has too much time to think about it, and that screws up his concentration somehow.

And then there's the other end of the spectrum - Lundqvist has stopped all 22 shooters he's faced this season. That's just crazy.

It seems like all the greats have a weakness. Hell, Gretzky himself admits that he was horrible on breakaways because he had too much time to think rather than just react. I imagine it's the same thing with Kipper - rather than simply reacting (like during a game), he outthinks himself......

Being a goalie myself, you are pretty much right about that. It also has to do with the fact that the PS goes at a much slower pace than a breakaway in a real game, there is little pressure of the shooter, he has all day to make his move

Sabres/Habs tonight!! I will admit that this game scares the shit out of me. Sabres have been playing like dogshit for the better part of a week and Mtl is always tough at home. Expect a quick start for the Sabres tonight. They have been sluggish out of the gate this entire road trip. Buffalo hasnt lost 2 in a row yet this year and its on the line again tonight.
LETS GO BUFF-A-LO!

Anyone know a good site that does daily NHL Predictions for all games? I'm not talking odds, just predictions.

My best guess would be that was Ron Maclean's idea.

They say fighting is a thing of the past but Brian Burke must not think so. The best team in the NHL dressed two goons the other night and probably for other games also. I guess you can dress tough guys AND win. What a concept. Confusedhock:

I thought the Rangers played a very good hockey game this afternoon in Ottawa, a good complete team effort. Jaromir Jagr had another strong game & Henrik Lundqvist played very well. And what a surprise, Jagr, Straka & Shanahan scored the 3 Ranger goals Smile They are off to a good start on this busy stretch (10 games in 17 days), 2 solid wins.
