Check it out! Very cool!

Indeed, that is very cool. Man, I love that band.

I saw them a couple of times last month (once supporting Editors and once headlining). They played some more new songs which sound great - especially one tune called 'Black Camera' which is really stand out. I'm really excited for the new album.

I shot a load of photos of them again too at The Tabernacle (the lighting was great!)

Brilliant as usual Ben! I can't wait for the new album either!

[MattyM]

Not just the new Wintersleep album... the PostData album is a real exciting prospect too!

Indeed, with a European release soon after. Here's the European press release.

Album Released: February 1st 2010 on One Four Seven Records
UK & European shows Jan /Feb 2010

This is my grandfather. His name is Colin Duggan. This is my grandmother. Her name is Caroline. Two years ago they passed away and left me thirty or forty pieces of songs in a series of dreams, not Coleridge-esque opium dreams though, just regular dreams. Kinda sad dreams. This is for them.

‘Postdata’ is an album of beautiful, sparse, visceral songs by Paul Murphy, the singer and co-songwriter of Wintersleep.
He decided to record an album under the Postdata moniker when it became apparent that he’d written a series of songs which all came from the same place, with a similar sentiment and a strong connection to his home and family.
Recalling Low, Nick Drake, Smog, Bon Iver.. it seemed to make sense to begin recording these songs with his brother Michael at their family home in Nova Scotia, Canada
Paul Murphy: “Mike and I both had a little too much time on our hands that particular Christmas break. Some Scotch too. We decided to get together and over the course of a few weeks, map out and record everything and anything I could remember from months of half formed dreams and thoughts and melodies.
Eight months later we reconvened over a free weekend and tried the same thing, reworking a cluster of songs from the first session and adding more, trying to capture the essence of the initial recording. We did it on the same laptop but with a little more preparation this time [ie we rented actual, real microphones and we used click tracks for a few songs and tuners for the most part, we think] and sure, a little less scotch.
The Postdata album is a touching, heartfelt collection of songs for and about Paul Murphy’s family, particularly his grandparents, their character, his lifelong relationship with them and ultimately their passing..

This is their daughter, my mother, Mary Coleen Duggan. This is for her.
This is my father. Some times he feels left out. This is for you too dad.
This is my stomach.
This is me.

Thanks for that, Matt. This had totally passed me by. Looking forward to it though. :thumb:

As soon as their UK label confirm tour dates with me I shall let you know Ben!

[MattyM]

Labelmates DAVID BAZAN (ex Pedro The Lion) and POSTDATA (Wintersleep's Paul Murphy) join forces on a tour of the UK and Europe in Jan/Feb 2010. The shows happily coincide with the release of the POSTDATA debut, 'Postdata' (CD & vinyl) and DAVID BAZAN's new album 'Curse Your Branches' (CD) - physical formats available from FEBRUARY 1ST 2010

POSTDATA - 'POSTDATA' (OFS12CD)
DAVID BAZAN - 'CURSE YOUR BRANCHES' (OFS11CD) *download available now*

UK / European Shows:

Jan 28th Antwerp - Trix
Jan 29th Utrecht - Ekko
Jan 30th Amsterdam - Winston
Jan 31st Brighton - The Freebutt
Feb 1st Leeds - Nation of Shopkeepers
Feb 2nd Glasgow - Captain's Rest
Feb 3rd London - Borderline
Feb 4th Paris - Le Scopitone
Feb 6th Milan - La Casa 139
Feb 7th Karsruhe - Jubez
Feb 8th Duisburg - Steinbruch
Feb 9th Berlin - NBI
Feb 10th Copenhagen - Din Nye Yen Cafe
Feb 11th Dublin - Whelans

Headliner DAVID BAZAN released records for almost 10 years under the band name PEDRO THE LION – before deciding to go it alone in 2005. A brave decision – Pedro The Lion’s fanbase was reverent and hardcore. However, Bazan comes back stronger than ever before with his new album, 'Curse Your Branches' (One Four Seven Records). By far this is the most cohesive, expansive, honest and downright beautiful collection of songs he has recorded. It’s largely a record about a broken relationship – but his broken relationship with his own beliefs and God rather than any human love affair. From the first line of “Hard to Be”, the album’s opener, it’s obvious we are in the territory of a master lyricist . He's just finished a huge 30+ date US tour and ends the year off with some super-intimate Living Room shows in the US. Watch one he did in Brooklyn here:

POSTDATA

Paul Murphy aka POSTDATA spent 2009 touring with his band WINTERSLEEP, supporting Editors and White Lies at huge venues across Europe. This tour supporting labelmate David Bazan, will be the first ever Postdata shows and a chance for fans to hear songs from his album, 'Postdata' (One Four Seven Records, Feb 1st 2010).

Paul decided to record an album under the Postdata moniker when it became apparent that he’d written a series of songs which all came from the same place, with a similar sentiment and a strong connection to his home and family. Recalling Low, Nick Drake, Smog, Bon Iver..

Nice! I'll definitely go to the London show, and possibly Brighton as well. Are the tickets already available, Matt?

i'm not sure to be honest Ben. I'm gonna try and do Brighton, it's a Sunday and as I'll probably leave after Paul's set I should be able to get a train home.

I'll email the PR and let you know.

Cool, thanks. I'll have a look around and see what I can find too. :thumb:

From the website and email (i think the Postdata part was already a bit touched on by Ben but):

Hello lovely peoples.
We've just finished up our 2 and half month, 50 shows and some change run in the UK and Europe with our friends the Editors. Aside from having an amazing time we got really good at ping pong, learned how to make the queen smile, and best of all, got to play in some new countries we had never had the chance to before. Poland, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic... welcome aboard! Much thanks again to Editors and crew for a fantastic trip as well as the wonderful Maccabees who were on the European portion with us!

We are currently held up in Glasgow at the new Castle of Doom studio location. Vocals and guitars are getting finished up this week! After the holiday break we will track for a couple days starting on the 8th of January and start mixing right after that, finishing up on the 22nd of January. We are gathering artwork ideas with a certain person we have been fans of for a while now. Very excited to see it all come together. We are even at the point of playing around with a few working titles for the new album. Still just thinking though really so our lips are still sealed in that department. We are almost ready to say "It's ALIVE!" in that Dr. Frankenstein sort of way. A tentative release in May of 2010. Hurray!

The Postdata record will be available for order in January from the newly launched website http://www.postdatamusic.com. Postdata is comprised of Wintersleep member Paul and his brother Michael Murphy. Postdata also has tour dates in Europe to boot in the near future with David Bazan.

It has been another whirlwind year for us and we are so excited to start the next one. From all of us here at the Wintersleep camp we wish you a very merry holiday season. Please be safe and we can't wait to see you in the new year.

Thanks, Danke, Merci, Dzienkuje, Mange tak, Gracias, Grazie, Dekuji, Obrigado!
- Loel, Paul, Tim, Mike & Jon.

Hurray! is right
