i dunno about that, Crosby was amazing pretty much all on his own last year, i think he's gonna be much more dangerous with Malkin at his side...because Malkin will help create space/scoring oppertunitites for Crosby by warranting a little extra defensive converage, and vice versa...the pens still won't make the playoffs...but i could see them finishing above the Islanders, and maybe even the Flyers too...

they should tank again on purpose though, so they can get another #1 pick and potentially have the best line in the league in 2008 lol!

The Sabres just re-signed Ryan Miller to a 3 year contract.
Thank god it did not get dragged out.

ya, i dont know about this, 15 years for a guy who really hasnt been that impressive in my books anyways. thatsa long committment. I dont think signing was a horrible idea, but to a shorter term to see if he can develop into a better goalie/

Agreed. 15 years is a little ridiculous.

That means that he is under contract untill he is 40 years old, goalies are usually past their peak in their mid 30's. It said in the article that he is guarenteed to get paid the full amount if he suffers a carreer ending injury, but didnt stipulate what would happen if he retired. If his game ever takes a drastic downturn all he has to do is refuse to retire, sit on the bench and collect 4.5 million a year. What a dumb move by the Islanders, but not quite as dumb as when they signed Alexi Yashin to a 10 year deal. That really worked out for them

God bless the Islanders. No matter how bleak things look for the Leafs, I can go to bed at night thankful that I'm not an Isles fan.

I mean my 2 year old son is going to be SEVENTEEN when this deal expires. SEVENTEEN!

The Isles used to have a respectable franchise, its sad how they've fallen. Hiring Mike Milbury as your GM is one sure way to tank a team, I doubt Garth Snow will fare much better. Cant blame them totally I read that the owner is a bit of a nut.

15 years?!?!?

You see what happens when you don't keep right on top of routinely hiring and firing your GMs. You end up signing a goalie for a generation.

I wouldn't give DiPietro 4 million in the first year of his contract, never mind in 2021 (no matter how much that's worth then).

wow.

Primeau To Retire

Keith Primeau will not be donning his skates for this season, or any more in the NHL. The Flyers veteran has announced plans to retire.

Primeau has suffered from post-concussion syndrome since a hit he took to the head last October.
The one-time captain only played in two games before going on injured reserve, and later announcing his season was over.

Primeau is 34 and says he feels he is too young to be calling it quits, but that he has no choice.

So young for his career to end.

Yeah - what we should expect from an 18 year old professonal hockey player is maturity beyond his years.

Sure, Crosby came across as a big whiner at times last year, but seriously, the kid was 18. Were you a picture of class and maturity at 18?
