Lincecum deserves the NLCY, but whether he actually gets it....?????

As you know, I'm an Indians fan. I wouldn't be upset if Halladay won the Cy Young, though. Lee and Halladay have both had tremendous seasons and BOTH of them are deserving of the award. I don't think Halladay winning would be a sham in the least.

Lincecum does deserve the NL award for sure. I don't think he'll get it. He is better in every major category than Webb, other than wins. If Webb wins the Cy Young, that will be the true injustice and that will make the award a true sham.

What are your thoughts on K-Rod getting the Cy Young, I've heard his name come up here and there. Personally I've never liked the idea of a closer winning an award like that. I feel it should be reserved strictly for starters, but you can't deny he has had an absolutely phenomenal season.

Lee will win hands down, but I think Halliday should be considered more than he will be when the vote comes down.

My thoughts are that K-Rod doesn't deserve the award as much as Lee or Halladay. K-Rod has had a great year but he's third at best in my voting.

Taking a closer look at Halladay's numbers, I agree that giving it to him wouldn't be a "sham" at all. He posted better K/BB and K/9 ratios, a better WHIP, and lower opponent BA, OBP, and SLG%. And he also pitched and astounding 9 complete games, and got 1.41 fewer runs per 9 innings in support from his offense. You're right tiger -- those numbers make him damn worthy, if not more deserving than Lee.

Unfortunately, I think voters will probably favor Lee's two extra wins, his 8 fewer losses and his better ERA.

I caught it, too. Been waiting for a playoff game like that this year. I love baseball games where you can absolutely feel the energy/momentum shifting from one side to the other through the TV set. Where you can feel JP Howell's nerves as he tries to lob in a strike. Where you can feel Coco Crisp's growing confidence as he fouls off pitch after pitch. And where you just know that anything in the strike zone to Drew in the 9th is going to be hit somewhere -- hard.
Hoping for seven games out of this one.

Exactly.

I was going to go to bed after the 9th inning, regardless. But when Drew stepped in, I told myself "he's going to end this thing"....and he did.

TheSox will win this series, and the world series. That boost of confidence was all their hitters needed. Beckett and Lester will shut the door on Saturday and Sunday.

LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas sports books favour the Tampa Bay Rays to win the World Series over the Philadelphia Phillies and would owe huge payouts if the American League champions prevail.

Oddsmakers say enough bettors took the Rays early in the year at long-shot prices to force books to adjust lines to encourage bets on the Phillies.

Sean Van Patten at Las Vegas Sports Consultants says the Rays are favoured at minus-$1.35, meaning a gambler would need to bet $1.35 to be paid $1 if Tampa Bay wins.

Van Patten puts the Phillies at plus-$1.15, meaning a $1 bet would earn $1.15 if Philadelphia wins.

Las Vegas Hilton race and sports book director Jay Kornegay says before the start of the season the Rays were a 200-1 shot for the title.
