Official Hush/Skeleton Park Thread

whenever I listen to Hush I have to tap my finger or foot or something along with the beat. it is just too catchy!
I have:
"Hush, hush, haunted hush
Blah, blah, and such and such
Cool fades fools are forever
On my back, on my knees
From the trap, to the trees
No matter how bad or unclever

Cause as it turns out you've got to mean it
It's the only thing that works, you mean it
Hush, hush"

as my current ringtone along with:

"As it turns out, there's a whole other world of sounds
Of perfect fifths, low skids, and Arctic howls

All saying, are you going through something?"

for my text message ringtone.
I can listen to them all day and night! Big Grin

That was the very first thing I thought when I heard Hush, especially when Baker's fuzzy lead kicked in. I immediately thought "did they get Marc Ribot to sit in on this one?" Love it. So different, and so good.

Skeleton Park is awesome too. Didn't like it as much when I first heard it, but now I think it's more ingenious than anything else from the WATS sessions. The intro makes me think i accidentally played STP's "Vaseline" every single time I play it on my WMP, but that's of no consequence.

So Skeleton Park has been one of, if not my favourite new Hip song. I was messing around with my speakers today and happened to accidentally play the song with only my right channel playing, and found that I actually liked it better without the electic rhythm guitar coming from the left channel. Check it out for yourselves... but I really like this 'mix' of the song, led by acoustic strumming.

I think Hush is one of the coolest songs they've ever done.
I didn't like it at first, and thought Skeleton Park was cooler.
I can't believe I thought that at one point.

That outro solo... man thats sweet as hell.

Just do yourself a favour and spend 20 minutes carefully reading this entire thread. You will be rewarded in the end! Smile

I just heard both these tracks for the first time and will wait for a few more listens before commenting. But I have to say that Hush reminds me very much of a track that could easily be from InRainbows by RH. The opening chord structures are very similar to Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'brien's recent experimentation with American golden era jazzy\blues guitar progressions. The references to Tom Waits IMO are also very valid.

Gunna add some Buck65 to the ingridient list on Hush; I hear Richard Terfry all the way through this cut. :jump

I love the hip and am seeing em 3 times this year. Compared to what others are charging, they aren't overpriced especially when the size of venue is considered.

That being said, I still think they are charging too much in Canada, but that's just my opinion. I think they have entered a new phase and it's called "GET PAID". I don't blame em', after years of seeing mediocre hacks get more then them I think they have finally had enough!

I kinda figured they was lookin to get paid when they featured the BlackBerry Pearl in their "in view" video.
