I would expect prices to be higher in the TO area because there are more people who are fans of Gord and the Hip, thus more of a demand. I would be highly surprised and upset if they charged higher prices outside of the TO area, depending on the venue, because Gord and TCOM most likely will not sell out 5-10,000 seat venues by themselves. Besides, these days touring and selling merchandise at shows is what provides most mainstream and indie acts their living, not CDs. I would be surprised if The Grand Bounce, as awesome as it is, sells more than 150K records in Canada/US.150,000?
"WATS" was certified at 80,000 sold: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://cria.ca/gold/0509_g.php">http://cria.ca/gold/0509_g.php</a><!-- m -->
"Hipeponymous" @ 100,000; "Yer Favourites" @ 200,000. And I can't find any certification history for Downie's previous solo efforts... which suggests they never broke the 50,000 mark as that's where the certification starts.
I think that $70 is too much - I like the album, I'm a fan, and Oakville place is less than 30 minutes from my home, but I'm not buying tickets. I'll hold out for a cheaper festival, or club show.
