Great verses, clearly having to do with a friend's or acquaintance's imminent demise.
I always thought the chorus kinda sucked. It adds nothing to the lyric and suffers from the embarassing phallic ricochet, not to mention the oversinging that has charactertized some of Downie's later work with the Hiop (in start contrast to his wonderfully relaxed solo stuff).
Half a song is better than none, I suppose. Purge the chorus and just play the two verses with some cool instrumental work, you've got a really solid track.
