Oh, I don't know. I think they're different enough that there's a place for both of them. Many of the stories on thehip.com are poorly written, very short, or don't say much. Don't get me wrong -- they're a valuable and interesting read, but in a different way, and only rarely to people who aren't the Hip, hardcore Hip fans, or students of Canadian pop culture or CanRock history. I think an edited collection of loosely connected pieces that are more literary could be awesome, and if done well, would have much broader appeal. I'm not sure that's what this is, though, but I really have no idea. I guess I could email her and find out. I don't know. Like I said: It clearly triggered some kind of weird neurotic crisis in my head. I'm all tore up tonight.
