theAryanTwang Wrote:A Clockwork Orange (Burgess)
-Screwed up book with plenty of slang that you need to learn to understand. It's wild how the mind understands foreign words used in a certain content. It took me about 50 pages to really grasp the terminology and after that I couldn't put it down.
Nineteen Eighty-Four (Orwell)
-Never read it in school so I thought I'd take the liberty to read it now. Great timeless book and goes hand-in-hand with V for Vendetta.
V for Vendetta (Moore)
-1984 for the future. Can't really compare it to the movie because they vary quite a bit. Both the movie and book are excellent in their own right though.
On Writing (King)
-King uses his amazing storytelling ability to answer the question "where do you get your ideas." Its part autobiography and part writing manual, but some principles can be applied to any occupation.
DaVinci Code (Brown)
-Lives up to the hype IMO
And I just started into King's new book Cell... so far it's like a mix of The Stand and Desperation with a sprinkling of modernism and George Romero-zombie-movie... it's too early to judge how this one will turn out
1984 is so classic. I'm a history teacher, and I make my students read that when we study totalitarianism. SOOOOO good. That part with the rat is terrifying.
