At this point, Strictly Hip NEVER does Hip only shows. Their manager told them years ago they needed to expand and they've never really looked back. They haven't been what many of you would call a "Tribute Band" since I'd say 2004, latest. They keep the name I'm sure, because they have marketability. They are very good as a general bar band that play covers, and I agree...Jer's solo stuff is great.
As far as Tributes go, for me it has to be Elevation, a tribute to U2. They frequent the Southern Ontario area but play everywhere. Saw them last week and they already have the new songs down pat. Dress and act like the band, which to some may be silly, but honestly, they are amazing. I'm hoping someone on the board can back me up.
