I don't think you can hand it to Brodeur based on his perfomance over time, if he is playing mediocre at the time of the games he won't be starting, if he is playing great then he probably will. I'd like to see a younger guy step in. Ward has the upper hand on Luongo at this point I would say. Luongo certainly didn't step up in a must win game. Ward has proven he can.Obviously not as intense as the Olympic gold medal game, but certainly on par with an elmination game in the NHL playoffs. Ask anyone who was at the game in Quebec City last year and see if they thought it was intense. As for Turin, Brodeur played just fine. Canada's problem was they couldn't score. Remember being shutout by Switzerland?
Its not like Brodeur lit it up in Turin, Nobody seems to remember that we finished out of the medals. At least Ward got to the gold medal game at the worlds
Luongo shat the bed last night for sure, but that game alone won't cost him a spot on the team. Along with Ward, Fleury will definitely deserve a look if the Pens make another run this year. And if someone like Mason starts off the season on fire he'll probably have a shot too.
