The Horrible Esthete Wrote:Not sure what all I've heard and from which albums, but i don't believe I've heard anything off Being There. i know I'm not too keen on Summerteeth, and I know that I am more preferential to the stuff on Sky Blue Sky, but to tell you the truth -- I need more exposure to all of it before I close the book on them. I know that I can dig the musicianship and the overall compositions, but honestly, the guy's voice -- Jeff Tweedy, right? -- just doesn't do it for me, and I'm not very big on the vocal melodies in general.
I remember seeing them here in Cincy clear back in 1995 as part of the HORDE festival....and thought they sounded great and held alot of promise..I think I even saw them open for Mellencamp once or twice in promotion of A.M.? Is that possible?
Summer Teeth is, imho, their most inconsistent album. It has it's moments, but it has never quite gelled for me the way their other albums have. You might want to look into Being There if you like the Sky Blue Sky stuff. The, of course, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost Is Born are two of the best albums done by anyone.
