[Bookhead]

So I was at work today--luckily I have a job that offers me the opportunity to listen to music on my headphones while I do my job at my desk--and put DFN in my CD Walkman (yes, I know that sounds hopelessly ancient--I assure you that I do also have an MP3 player on my cell phone). First of all, what a great album start to finish--probably, push come to shove, my favorite Hip album. Does Gord Sinclair's bass playing get any better than it it on that album? Gord Downie's lyrics are fantastic, so many quotable lines.

Anyway, I can't say I get the "shivers down my spine" reaction to too many songs by anyone, but without fail, anytime I hear "Nautical Disaster," it just does the trick EVERY SINGLE TIME I EVER LISTEN TO IT. What a phenomenal combination of great lyrics and storytelling, poignancy, and a musical performance that perfectly fits the song. The sound of the guitars alone take you to that "rocky socket on the coast of France."
