I don't want to come off as a whiner, but this whole "pre-order" thing has again been mismanaged, and especially with the efficiency of the whole Maple Music systerm:
I got my hopes up yesterday since I had a notice from Canada Post that there was a package waiting for me at the post office - unfortunately, it was a book order from Amazon.
Like a bunch of others apparently, I was under the impression that the Live 4 album was much more exclusive than it now is - I tried to get it with the Ticketmaster option, but this wouldn't work (although I managed to get tickets to all six Massey Hall shows). I went with the Maple Music option instead. It's nice to see that the distributor for most Canadian acts to wait at least one week after the retail release date to get an album with a supposed "exclusive" item. I remember that when WC came out, it appeared (at least to me) that the digipack edition was not the retail version, so I pre-order through Maple Music. Again, the release was delayed, and I found the digipack at a local HMV. I called customer service to see if I could cancel my order that had not yet shipped as I could now obtain the same edition a few dollars cheaper and much quicker, yet they wouldn't cancel the order.
On a side note, I know of one local artist who is losing sales on his debut album since it retails for $27 with shipping despite his request that it not sell for more than $15.
