Not likely to happen in Toronto this season so I dont know why he would even waste his time going back unless he's that sentimental about the team. I doubt he would go for the "hometown" discount again seeing as other teams would be willing to pay at least 7-9 mil for his services for one or two seasons, it would make sense to part ways. But that would be one nice slap in the face to Leaf fans if Mats goes elsewhere, they really could have cashed in on him if he had waived his NTC and now to walk away and they get nothing that would be sweet!
It's been confirmed. Fletcher will stay GM until the end of next season.
