My children assume that any music I listen to must be crap.

Abandon hope. This is the fate that awaits you.

We try to expose them to lots of different styles and genres, including jazz, folk, and country ... I fully expect them to develop their own tastes as they mature, but hopefully we can give them a well-rounded foundation to build on!

I'm working on that well-rounded foundation, but my daughters have equal scorn for bebop, bluegrass, traditional country, blues, swing, and any rock that comes from me.

They suffered a minor crisis when they discovered that not only do I know a Green Day song, but I can play it, too.

I think they hate Green Day now.
