The Weakest Link - Albums - Round 4
#4

potsie Wrote:Surprised that WC went out before M@W.

The discussion surrounding IVL in the last round was interesting. Seems so many songs on that album are polarizing. I can't imagine the album without Silver Jet on it, yet it seems many loathe it. Understandably it's a little clunky but the guitars kick ass, which is the only song you could say that about on the album. All Tore Up tries even harder to rawk but stumbles and falls flat.

Throwing Off Glass is another on that album that elicits varied responses. Some view it as listless and sonically dull, others (like myself) love the rumination on parenthood and the slipperiness of time.

If I could swap out three for the B-sides from that time, I'd ditch "Are You Ready", "All Tore Up", and "Use it Up".

I was listening to IBE yesterday and got to thinking that an 'off the floor' version of Problem bears or Ultra Mudane would also fit nicely on to that album - possibly in place of heaven and/or summer which are the two songs on that album that miss the mark for me.
