I took every opportunity to see them in cramped, smoke-filled, maritime drinking establishments. As direwolf74 notes, Danny is a peerless rock singer. I would love to see them do a 30th anniversary coast-to-coast tour as I haven't had the pleasure of seeing a Watchmen show since the late 90's.
Last time I saw them was at the Calgary Stampede in 2009 I think, and they absolutely killed it. They opened the show with "Stereo" and the place went f'n bananas. It's a shame they stopped making records after the 90s.
Anybody remember the album Danny made with that dude from Change of Heart called "Doctor"? That was a pretty solid album. I had it on CD at one point, but I lost it during a move I think. Wish I could find a copy.
"Live and in Stereo", the live album released last year is a great representation of their live show and features some of Danny's a cappella singing (The Heart of Saturday Night). It finishes with a cover of "Highwayman", which he sounds like he was born to sing.
I had the "Doctor" CD as well but haven't listened to it in probably 10 years. I think the guy who played keys on World Container (Jamie Edwards) was in the band as well. I remember the first single "What makes you think he's lucky" getting a bit of traction on radio but it seems like the band came and went pretty quickly. I never saw them live, if they even toured at all.
