One song that stands out to me is 'Snowflake.' It's...haunting. Gord even *sounds* like a ghost on it, his voice soaked in reverb, which is disconcerting under the circumstances. The story is fractured, even spooky. Of all the tracks on here, that's one of two that I have a hard time imagining the person it's written for enjoying, precisely because of this spooky quality.
I don't know that the overall lyrical theme is spooky; arguably, it's about how what Gord really remembers is holding her hand, being with her, and everything else is fragments. But those fragments are unsettling, especially that voice from behind the locked door; and eeriness, it seems to me is the net effect of the track. (I think it's a great cut, by the way, one of the record's best, heard purely as a song).
The other vexing track - in the sense of being a decidedly ambiguous gift - is 'Thinking About Us.' That sounds, to my ear, about as conflicted and borderline cranky as you would expect of someone addresses their fairly recent 'ex.' I'm not sure his ex-wife will feel terribly consoled by that one. You have to hand it to Gord, he was truthful to the end.
