Hip Museum has a nice piece on Yawning, about how one show the cops really did go into the crowd http://www.hipmuseum.com/yawning.html. I seem to remember GD saying in an interview that there actually was a photograph. I used to think it was maybe the one printed beside the song in the CD booklet, but on second look that's doubful as the man in the picture doesn't appear to have his mouth noticeably open.
