He’s really living his life and he’s a great lesson to me, our family, and friends and just about every Canadian I meet because he’s doing what we’re all meant to do and that’s to get on with things. Downie explained the trip to the County was an emotional one.

“It’s emotional for me, driving into Picton,” he said noting visits here started with with he and Gord and their other siblings driving in from Amherstview to spend summers at the Sandbanks. “When Gord had his own family, he bought this beautiful cottage at Cressy Lakeside and spent many, many wonderful summers coming to the County. I can tell you these were the best family times for Gord and the kids.”

Man, this is great to hear! Gord is staying engaged, staying busy. Love hearing about Gord's connection to Picton/Prince Edward County too. I have a friend who owns/runs a restaurant in Glenora and she tells stories of Gord coming in. I see The Grand Bounce album as Gord's Prince Edward County album...so many references and allusion to the area, and to his kids, on the album. The two most obvious are The East Wind (the laziest wind), which was something Gord's PEC neighbour said to him, and "Moon Over Glenora" with its ferry ride with kids storyline. I've spent some time in PEC over the years, and listening to The Grand Bounce always makes me think of it...even if just parts the record were inspired by it. Digression aside, great to hear this about Gord. Keep fighting, my man.
