When in 'reply to a post' or 'submit post' you just click the youtube box --- than in between the two boxes, you copy and paste just end portion of the link (everything after the '=').
Example:

Your video at the link:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmG1AjCcZuM">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmG1AjCcZuM</a><!-- m -->

Should appear in your post box as
[you tube] dmG1AjCcZuM [/you tube]

remove the spaces, obv

clear as mud?

[youtube]dmG1AjCcZuM[/youtube]

Yup, that's exactly how I do it. Still doesn't work though.

Exactly how I do it as well. Another forum I am part of is the same format and it works just fine. It's just the Hip Base that doesn't work for me. Also just shows as a blank post.
