No question where I stand...IBE is in the top-three Hip records. Off the floor, urgent, tight, demented, imaginative. What it's NOT is slick. And that's what WC is, slick to the hilt - which of course is the whole problem. However, 'Kids Don't Get It' is fantastic. And I've negotiated a pleasant enough relationship with
-Ocean, despite its overproduction
-Rink, although I still don't get any real emotion out of it
-Drop Off, once I got over the fact that it would sound better if Gord had sung in a lower register
-Family Band
That makes five enjoyable songs vs. a record that, apart from the Dan Snyder tune, is basically indestructable from start to finish. A mismatch all the way. However, your stance on this probably depends on what KIND of music you dig: spontaneous and urgent, over manicured and super-produced. :jump
