Well, 'Man Machine Poem' is a really potent song and, as a phrase, is pretty striking. I also rather like the idea of naming an album for a song on a previous album; it's perverse - the 'title track' is actually on an earlier album! - yet the self-referential aspect creates a fun sort of internal loop or dialogue across albums.
That said, 'Dougie Stardust' is a much wittier title. Since I don't take it as at all disrespectful of Bowie, I'd have kept it. On the other hand, I originally theorized that the 'DS' thing was a calculated act of marketing to raise interest; and the fact that a Hip album drops shortly thereafter tends to reaffirm that suspicion.
