What Pearl Jam charges is in no way related to what the Hip charge. The Hip charge the maximum they believe they can get for tickets, and there is nothing wrong with that principle. By your logic, Taylor Swift should be playing 5 hr concerts because she charges so much for her tickets (when she plays more like 15 songs). Furthermore, Pearl Jam have a much bigger revenue stream than the Hip (they charge for their fan club, while the Hip do not, they have their own Sirius radio station, get way more airplay, especially in the U.S.) and clearly leave money on the table in regards to ticket pricing. Just because they decide to do that does not mean the Hip should.
And the Pearl Jam comparisons need to stop. The Hip have consistently, throughout at least the last 20 years, played approximately 2 hr shows, with the exception of one special tour in 2000, and while Pearl Jam is known to play longer sets, they are a rare exception, as most bands play no more than 2 hrs. I paid $125 for Coldplay a couple of years ago, and I watched their setlists for that tour and every night was exactly the same. That is typical of rock/pop bands. The Hip still play for 2 hrs a night (give or take) and the setlists do change from night to night. Perhaps not to your liking, but it's not the same every night.[/quote]
fine lets play the game compare them to phish
phish charges 60 bucks a ticket for 3 + hours of them urinating in your ears
and never play the same song twice in a row
they also do 3 nigh stands
I wish the hip would take a page from phish and kill it
also how about trey with the dead is that the show of the decade?
