It pains me to say this, but this album is better than anything the Hip have put out in the last 10 years. And that's not to say I don't like the Hip's recent material. I do. But this album is the best thing I've heard from Gord in quite some time. It sounds fresh, raw, and exciting. Gord's vocals are amazing, and he sounds invigorated. $20 says he'll sing these songs perfectly in concert with no screaming or purposely botching the vocals. Perhaps the shambolic, improvisational nature of the Sadies is just the tonic he needs to get him excited about performing with the Hip again and respecting the material when he sings.
