And Shane, this is the first I've heard of reissues. We, as fans, have often speculated about a B-sides album but that's different from this offering.

I would be shocked if they don't capitalize on the vinyl craze right now. Almost every popular rock band is reissuing their albums on vinyl right now, or have in the past couple years.

And to the second point, I remember and interview with Johnny Fey with the Sun or Canoe right after the Music at Work tour in 2000 stating that they had tossed around the idea of putting out a b-sides album or a boxset. I remember in the same interview he addressed Matt Good accusing The Hip's record label or purchasing The Hip's albums to boost their sales figures. I guess they patched things up as they ended up playing together in the mid-2000's.

Anyways, to the initial point...I'd be very surprised if they come out with re-issues and don't include them on vinyl. This band has done a lot of things that have puzzled me in the last ten years with how they have (not) promoted themselves, used the internet after being one of the trendsetters of the 90's, and not jumping on the bootleg craze (see Pearl Jam, Phish, etc) but not reissuing their albums on vinyl during the resurgence of records would make no sense at all.

Agreed, but I don't know if a band like the Hip would stand to make all that much off of any kind of reissue (CD or vinyl). Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the band would do fairly well financially speaking to re-release their studio albums with all the trimmings (cd format only though). Obviously being very hypothetical (and wishing), they could release each album, remastered, new liner notes, with all out-takes and a bonus live album from each tour of that particular album. The band could boost the cost a bit for the extra content and have very little overhead with this sort of project. Minimal studio time, the fans get what they want and the "on the fence" crowd will snatch up the ever popular first couple.

Check out REM's first several IRS re-releases that they recently did. Each album had tunes of extras!!! AND a live cd from that era... my two cents! :thumb:
