World Container Reviews - Official Thread

Ok, so here's my two cents (American) worth of analysis about WC. Count me in the half full/half empty category. There are absolute kick ass rockers (Ocean, Family Band, Rink, Kids) that I can listen to for hours and hours on end but a couple that are just there for me. I count Luv(sic) in that category. Drop Off is a good rocking tune, but I find the rant part of it mixed a bit too loud and jarring. I think it will be a great live staple but on the record it's just jarring. I feel that Pretend is just simply pretendious and cheesy. The lyrics are trite and repetitious. I know Gord is trying to move to a more "simple lyric, heartfelt meaning" frame of mind, but he is so much better when he comes up with ballad gems like Bobcaygeon and Lake Fever. This is the clear disappointment for me in the record. I havent' had the pleasure of listening to In View in a live setting, but i think it will be much better live than on the record. The title track is simply overblown; great lyrics but the orchestral sound effects are a bit too much. I agree with Tiger that they should move on past Bob Rock and maybe self produce their next album.
