Oh you definitely don't want to take any job and just quit. When you're in a select industry everyone knows each other and your rep gets around. I live in a one-trick town and I have to be very careful about how I work if I want to keep working in the top respected companies.
I work in the auto industry and we're laying off like CRAZY. A year ago we had almost 350 employees and right now we're down to 250. The past 3 Fridays in a row has seen layoffs for us- we joking refer to ourselves as "Survivor-OTC" now. (OTC is our company's name in an acronym)
I've made it through round 3, but it's getting hard to see my friends leave...
