General Election 2006

Apparently, Belinda Stronach phoned Stephen Harper last night looking for a cabinet position in return for crossing the floor. Harper said the pain was still too fresh for Peter and hung up.

Damn that was funny!

Now in all seriousness... and far be it for me as a conservative and Conservative supporter to give advice to the Liberals of all people... but what about Stephane Dion? Yes, he's a francophone Quebecker for a party that has had a lot of them in the past (not that that should necessarily mean anything), and he may not be the most popular politician in Quebec these days. But he always to me seemed to be above the fray and not tainted by either the scandal or the internecine warfare between the Chretien and Martin camps. If he were the Liberal leader, I think that would mean a full return to civility in politics and campaigning. An era where ALL the leaders of the major political parties debate the issues during campaigns in an honourable and civil manner, instead of seeing one party (*cough* Martin's Liberals *cough*) engage in cheap fear and smear tactics.

On second thought... I guess that would just make too much sense, wouldn't it?
