2005 Hipbase Member of the Year Award
#5

Shane Kroeker Wrote:The purpose of the award is to push the boundaires of this online community. Hence, the more you do for the community, the better your chances are of winning the annual award. If you just read the forums, and listen to the Tragically Hip music, you are still a fan indeed; but perhaps you should then make the extra effort and execute your ideas in hopes of making the Hipbase community a better place, if one would wish to become eligable for the award. It is up to all members to decide the winner.
If you want to push the boundaries of the Hipbase and make it better place you dont need a "member of the year" competition to do it imo. Just start a thread and get the think tanks going, people contribute to this place on a regular basis already I dont see how this is going to make a difference, do you think someones sitting there going "how can I make the hipbase better and come up with some kick ass idea so I can be the 2006 member of the year?" Highly doubtful, I think the hard-core members and regular posters in this forum already have the motiviation and incentive to make this place better. I see it all the time here, the people are great here and very helpful to others. Ive helped members obtain tracks and songs and offered boots to ones in the past, so have lots of others, just look at the examlple Rory just gave, very nice to hear. Like I said recognizing the members contributions is a nice idea, I just think a member of the year award is a dumb idea, thats all.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”
