Hello out there. The heat has come and gone and the hibernation season is upon us once again. Perfect time for the vacant meanderings of a guy in a band. Our shows this summer were mainly festivals across Canada, while we spent the fall playing club gigs at home, the U.S. and Japan. It was good to get out of the studio and back on the road, playing some new material on stage really brought it to life. We'd like to thank all of you who came out to the shows and, as for the cities we didn't get to, we are saving ourselves for an all-guns-blazing tour to go with the release of our next record. The latter is in its final phase, after a year of hard work.

My friend David Pawsey has been working on a video for No Sleep for a while now. We wanted to do something on our own time and he's a busy guy so he doesn't have much of it. We knew it was never going to be the whole song, but it captures the spirit of it anyway. We're putting it up for mailing list viewers only for the first three weeks as a way of saying "you're alright." Thanks to Dave for all of his hard work and imagination. Here's what he has to say about it in his own words...

I guess it must seem strange to see a 45 second video clip of a song that's on an album two years in the running, but the reality is that this blip has been in near existence for almost the same time. It has taken on different shapes and was almost lost in the forgotten. It first came to life near the time of the "Hard Road" video. I remember coming up with an initial sketch of Sam standing in front of the tree from the cover of "We Were Born in a Flame". As he stood in front of the tree I thought it might be cool to grow a city in synch with the base and snare from No Sleep. Eventually the sketch helped to inspire the "Hard Road" Video. After that I put the clip to sleep and pursued other roads. Things changed in December 2004 when Sam approached me to do a photo shoot for some artwork on his upcoming album. We decided to take some sequences to fill in the animation with a technique I developed of shooting subjects with a still camera for video. It was only until recently that time allowed itself for me to finish up the clip so that it could get a proper release.

I consider it a great honour to share the animation with all of you and to have worked with such a great song that hopefully will have a renewed life. Feel free to share it with as many people as you can.
