As posted in an earlier thread, Gord Downie showed up at the Daniel Lanois show Saturday night, and sang backup on the 3rd song of the show (don't know the title).

The song was "The Messenger" off of Daniel Lanois "The Beauty of Wynona"

For anyone wondering, this is the same song the Tea Party attempted to cover.

Me, too. I thought The Tea Party did a pretty great cover. It's one of the best tunes on Triptych.

This is just my opinion, but I thought it was a mediocre cover from a mediocre album (Triptych). Admitedly I'm an old school Tea Party fan... for no reason whatsoever I just stopped listening after Transmission (I liked that album). Edges of Twilight is my favorite album of theirs.
But getting back to my point ... I'm a Lanois fan and I have a hard time with any band trying to cover one of his songs.
