There's been a lot of tension recently among Muslims and non-Muslims in the Netherlands. I remember a Dutch filmmaker was killed a couple months ago by a Muslim because he produced a movie denouncing Muslims' poor treatment of women in general. Your story is probably one of the consequences of the Dutch trying to deal with this issue... but I agree this is very troubling indeed.
