Dear god, does this band ever suck now. Thankfully I traded these two CDs in recently for a couple of used Neil Young albums. Remember when Treble Charger were a really good band with a cool sound, interesting songs, and lots of integrity?? NC-17 was one of the best indie-rock albums of it's time, and the Self=Title EP was pretty cool too. But then they went all corporate on us when they signed to BMG and started churning out the same pop-punk garbage everyone else was doing just so they could stay current with the kids. It seems the older Treble Charger got (they're all in their mid-30s now), the younger their fans got. I'm sure that Greig Nori being Sum 41's manager had something to do with it. Bill Priddle obviously saw this coming and left the band at the right time. He was thier best songwriter and they'll never be as good without him. Stick a fork in 'em. They're done.
What a fall eh? Sickening really. Looking back in retrospect it seems that they simply hopped on whatever musical bandwagon there was and tried to pass themselves off as legit. First grunge, then pop-punk. The fact that they refuse to give their ages in interviews (a la Rick The Temp on MuchMusic) is proof positive that they are just pop-genre-hoppers, a la Alanis. If they were still together and trance music all of the sudden became the flavour of the day they'd have a trance music CD out by the end of the year.
