Firstly, I'd like to say that if I had VS in one hand and SKU in the other, I'd definitely pick VS out of the two. Probably because it's that one song per album that is put out before all others as a sort of "introduction." We are all biased being Hip fans, so I think whatever they release we'll all love.
Futhermore, there's all this talk of "Are You Ready" and "Putting Down," in my opinion, out of all The Hip's releases, "IVL" and "M@W" seemed bad. Not bad, more like too different. As you release records, you HAVE to change. Bands that do the same thing over and over get left in th dust, but these two albums (Not every song on them though) wandered too far away from The Hip. As a poet, I feel Phantom Power was the last great album, so I'm hoping for IBE.
Finally, I've been transcribing unreleased Hip songs and have discovered the Unknown song at the Horseshoe Tavern in 1988 is a Rolling Stones cover called "Down Home Girl," so ya'll can change your labels...

I started listening to the Hip around UTH, RA, DFN or TATH so these newer ones (M@W, IVL) just didn't seem like the Hip. Maybe they got too into them but "A Beautiful Thing" and "As I Wind Down The Pines" are superb!
