I just finished listening to the 10-20-00 boot. The taper got hauled out of the show by security for taping the show. They let him back into the show but not without hasseling him about not having a taper pass or something to that effect. I know the hip are ok with taping their shows but has anyone ever approached them about giving out taper passes. They do this for the Dead. You buy a taper ticket for the show. The price is the same but you are allowed to bring in recording equipment. They even set aside an area for tapers so as not to disturb any of the concert goers. I've never had trouble bringing my recording euipment into a hip show but the one time it does happen I will FREAK. The hip may allow taping but some venues don't. I think it is up to the band as they own their material. On the IVL tour the ticket actually said no recording equipment allowed but no one said boo when I pulled out my video camera and minidisc. I think official permission from the hip via a pass or taper ticket would solve this problem. Before the IVL tour I emailed the hip to ask if I could bring in a video camera and they said sure we are ok with that. I printed off the email and brought it to the shows. Luckily I didn't have to use it. I don't think it would have gotten me very far as they can totally be faked but that was the best I could do to get official permission to tape. Any ideas as to what we can do for the upcoming tour would be appreciated. Lets get every show!!
