That Florida (or Massachusetts) vote count for Nader did win Bush the election - you're right about that, prz.
But this time around, Nader may not have a party but he does have one thing - an ISSUE. He was opposed to the War in Iraq from day 1 and says he would have voted against it. Kerry voted for it. I think Nader will take away the support of Democrats angry about that. Think about the massive numbers of Democrats furious about the War and if only a few percent of them move over to Nader, it could be enough to ruin everything.
Last time Nader had a party but no issue. I think the issue is dangerous this time around.
