Check this page nightly and moreso if it's clear in your area. The red/orange oval represents the actual aurora activity. If you live inside or very near the oval then chances are youll see northern lights.

Activity has been high the last few days and is expected to remain high the next couple as there is another large plasma cloud on its way from the sun toward us. It is supposed to be clear in Nova Scotia tonight. Find a dark spot outside the city and look northward.
