For Gord:
1. How do you determine what should be a Tragically Hip song vs a Gord Downie solo tune?
2. "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor" Desmond Tutu. Can you say a few words on how activism has been part of your career, and how you see Canadian activism in general?
For Paul or Rob:
1. If you had to pick 2 or 3 quintessential guitar songs what would they be and why?

I always thought of The Hip similar to Pearl Jam in how they focused on charitable efforts and treated their fans. Are there any bands you see as contemporaries or borrowed ideas from in how to navigate what can be a selfish, "favour of the month" industry and give their fans and community something extra?

Gord: Was there ever pressure from the labels to dumb down your lyrics so they were less esoteric?
Gord: The song World Container has an air of finality to it. Was there a chance at the time this would be the last Hip song, or am I just getting caught up in the magic of the song?
Band: I am American and I know you're brilliant. But why don't more of my countrymen know you? Was there a core reason in your opinion?

GD: how much of your on-stage improvisation is planned on any given night or song? Do you ever worry about "wandering too far off of the reservation?"
GD: what "protest song" or "protest singer" do you most admire, and how have they influenced your approach?
Rob: does your hair ever make traveling across the country unpleasant (i.e. getting noticed by fans)? Have you ever gone to lengths to hide it?
Band: is there a studio you've always wanted to record at?
Band: is there a Hip song you've always thought would sound good as a duet with another famous musician/singer? (Other than the "30 Hour Famine" version of "Emergency")
Band: would the Hip have ever made it (in Canada, the States, or anywhere) as a country band?

GD1: At 52-years young, does it still remain "a great time to be an artist, a poet, in this the decline of the human empire?"
GD2: Joseph Boyden has left an indelible mark on your thinking, your writing. For aspiring writers today, who might they be influenced by?
JF: You're brash. You're bold. You're bodacious. Did you ever contemplate punching Dave Bidini in the head when touring together? (Follow-up: did you ever punch anyone while on tour?)
RB: How and why did you become involved in artistic decisions for the band?
PL: As a doting father of two daughters, how has your relationship with them influenced you as a musician and a songwriter over the years?
GS: After almost three decades of crafting the setlist, what drove you to relinquish the duty ... and how did Rob take over? Why did Rob then quit and give it to Paul?

For the band:
You guys don't seem to be a band that looks back often. Was everyone involved in the "yer favourites" compilation. What was the experience like revisiting fully completely for the written notes in box set as well as playing the album live on tour- did that help in any way help to shape Man Machine Poem?

Isn't it: "In the epitome of vagueness, am I expected to take this?"
[quote="Tthip"]Sing to end all songs.
2. What the hell are all the background lyrics to Poets? (And I. Can't find. The time. To mind)
What are the rest?

How are songs picked for a tour. Can you take us through building a set list?
