I gotta go with Iron Maiden "Somewhere in Time"
I've been listening to it nonstop for about two weeks now. It never gets old.
...until I rediscover another album.
Their recent Canadian tour announcement got me thinkin' about these guys again. It's been years since I've listened to a Black Crowes album, so this morning I pulled this disc off my shelf, dusted it off and gave it a spin on my way to work. What a killer album!
Time to revive this thread again. I just finished listening to "Perpetual Motion Machine" by 13 Engines (remember them?) It's probably been a good 10 years or so since I listened to that record, and I'm happy to report that it still kicks my ass. Great band.
Even though it is a comedy about a fictitious band from the 70's and its all original music, there are actually a couple really good tunes on that album.
Yesterday I found a used copy of "Jerk" by 90s Canadian alt-rock band hHead. I used to own this disc a long time ago, but I can't remember what happened to it. I haven't heard it in ages. Good songs, great melodies, and extremely hooky choruses all the way through. This band also featured a young Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene fame on bass guitar.
I made a decision last week that I would listen to my CDs in alphabetical order...
Last count I had 638.
Today the kids had to endure Aphex Twin in the car ('that bit sounds scary dad...') but the blast from the past for me so far was 'Boing' by a one hit wonder band called 'Airhead'
And even after about 6 years of giving it a listen, I could still sing along (badly)
